About European Consumer Tests
European Consumer Tests is an independent editorial publication dedicated to evidence-based skincare. We work with board-certified dermatologists, cosmetic chemists and accredited testing laboratories to examine the products and ingredients that matter most to informed consumers.
Our purpose is straightforward: to close the gap between what skincare marketing promises and what clinical evidence supports. Every product review on this site follows a standardised evaluation protocol developed with our scientific advisory panel. Every ingredient claim is checked against published peer-reviewed research.
How we test
To keep our findings independent, we purchase every product ourselves, anonymously, from pharmacies and the online retailers most readers already use. No manufacturer or retailer pays for a placement, a mention or a favourable result on these pages.
Each product undergoes a structured assessment covering formulation analysis, active ingredient verification and real-world performance testing. Where the evidence warrants it, we commission independent laboratory analysis to verify concentration claims and stability.
Our review panel
Before publication, our findings are reviewed by a panel that includes a practising dermatologist, a cosmetic chemist and a clinical pharmacist. Each reviews the data relevant to their discipline — covering skin safety, formulation integrity and therapeutic efficacy — and signs off on our conclusions before they appear on the site.
Corrections and contact
If you identify an error in our reporting, or would like to suggest an ingredient or product category we have not yet covered, we want to hear from you. You can reach the editorial team through our contact page. Every message is read personally, and any confirmed error is corrected promptly with a transparent note.
